Ebenezer William "Wild Bill" Peyto

As one of the first national park Wardens, his life adds colour to the history of the national parks. He was a unique individual and imposed his own style on the budding organizations to manage and conserve the wilderness of the Canadian Rockies.

As a subject for biographies his own words from journals along with historical research can be found in E. J. Hart's "Ain't it Hell" or find him among many colourful characters in Alberta's past in Aritha Van Herk's Mavericks: An Incorrigible History of Alberta.

His visage greets visitors to Banff. A beautiful lake bears his name. Stories of his independent ways and mountain man wit make him a perfect namesake for our company.
